The man was cold and was beginning to close his eyes in drowsiness.\u00a0 Suddenly he was jolted awake because the wagon had fallen into a muddy hole and was stuck.\u00a0 The mule strained and strained but he could not pull it out.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13779&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]The man got down and cried out in frustration.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t do anything to pull the wagon out.\u00a0 But he shouted loudly and cursed his bad luck.\u00a0 He called upon the God Hercules to come to his aid.\u00a0 He called so loudly and long that Hercules actually heard him and came down to earth to see what the problem was.\u00a0 He saw that this man was standing there doing nothing but cursing his bad luck.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]\u201cReally?\u00a0 You stand there and do nothing and complain and whine and expect a God to help you?\u00a0 Put your shoulder to the wheel first \u2013 you try your best before anything else \u2013 and then the gods will aid you.\u00a0 If you do not put your effort in first, no help will come,\u201d said Hercules.<\/p>\n<p>The man looked at Hercules in surprise.\u00a0 He saw the god angry and frowning at him.\u00a0 The man got down to the mud, where the wagon was sunk.\u00a0 He began to push the wagon.\u00a0 He got his feet and hands muddy.\u00a0 But he kept on pushing.\u00a0 The wheels moved up the hole a bit.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t give up.\u00a0 He pushed and pushed.\u00a0 And then he found that the wheels moved readily and the mule could pull the whole wagon up.\u00a0 The problem was over.\u00a0 The wagon was on smooth ground now.\u00a0 He looked at Hercules who was now smiling.<\/p>\n<p>The man let the rain wash away his mud and sat on the wagon again.\u00a0 He and the mule continued the journey.\u00a0 And soon the sun came out and the path became beautiful again.\u00a0 A cool breeze blew and the flowers waved at the wagon that passed carrying a much wiser man than before.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner]<div class=\"ult-spacer spacer-69dfdbae49686\" data-id=\"69dfdbae49686\" data-height=\"50\" data-height-mobile=\"50\" data-height-tab=\"50\" data-height-tab-portrait=\"\" data-height-mobile-landscape=\"\" style=\"clear:both;display:block;\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Hercules and the Wagoner (Aesop\u2019s Fable)&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23673ab7&#8243; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;9194&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_column_text] [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Click Here to Download the MP3[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]Once a man went on a journey with his wagon heavy with sacks of grain.\u00a0 The man was not used to taking weight around.\u00a0 He only knew how to sit in the wagon and travel, looking around as [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":13779,"parent":13771,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-13801","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.3 -
